Vaccination Service Update

Please visit the Government website to read more about the vaccine.

Following the announcement by the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) and the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) about the risks presented from the new BA.2.86 variant the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care has asked NHS England to bring the vaccination programme forward to start in September.

The practice has been informed that patients eligible for the Autumn Covid Vaccine will be offered a vaccination at Violet Melchett from 8th September starting with the oldest patients first.  A self booking link will be sent to eligible patients.  The first weekend for receiving the Covid vaccine at Violet Melchett will be on 16th and 17th September.

We have been notified that some of the local pharmacies will also be offering a Covid vaccination service.  Please use the National Booking Service link below to book your Covid vaccine at a pharmacy.

We are also aiming that from 2nd October 2023 the community team will start vaccinations for care home residents and those who are housebound.

And from 18 September 2023 the National Booking System will become available to allow eligible people to book a COVID-19 vaccination online, via the NHS App or by calling 119.

The autumn vaccination programme will be offered to:

  • residents in a care home for older adults
  • all adults aged 65 years and over
  • persons aged 6 months to 64 years in a clinical risk group
  • frontline health and social care workers
  • persons aged 12 to 64 years who are household contacts.

We will update our website with precise dates and details of how to book your vaccination once the practice has been informed.
